Good evening, I have been planning an update for everyone concerning the water, but I have held off waiting to assess the weather situation.
It is time for a dual purpose message. First I will address the weather. Very cold temperatures with miserable winds tomorrow are a concern. Additionally, there are still some heating units at the school that haven’t been repaired following the broken pipes. Those two items are bad enough, but some very icy roads in the district have led me to join all the other schools in the area and cancel school for tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16.
The topic of the water continues to vex us. We have made some upgrades to the system, and we continue to monitor the water in hopes those changes and flushing will lead to consistent good test results.
It appears it may be some time before the water is undoubtedly clear of elevated copper levels. We will continue to use bottled water for drinking until then.
Again, no school tomorrow, and we are still having to drink bottled water.
Stay warm, and we will hopefully see you Wednesday.

Elementary Spelling Bee

Middle school basketball scheduled for today will be played tomorrow. The location and times are the same as they would have been today.

No school today due to weather conditions.

Board members being sworn in.

The middle school spelling bee was held today at 1:00 in the little theater. All the contestants did well. Nash Cardell received 1st place, 2nd place went to David Krone, 3rd place was Bailey Brockus and our alternate is Kaydance Bond. The top three spellers will attend the Franklin County Spelling Bee on Tuesday, February 6th at Central Heights in the little theater at 1:00.

We have gotten through the first two days back from the break amazingly well. We seem to consume approximately 800 bottles of water per day here at Central Heights. That may be a trivia questions years from now, so make note of it.
I am sending out this update at 4:30 on Tuesday not only to share about the water situation but also to remind all of you it is Pack the House Night, and PTA is having their Chili Feed and Silent Auction Fund Raiser. If you haven't made other arrangements come on out to the games against West Franklin this evening. (Don't worry, we have good water for you to drink while you are here.)
We are hoping for a big crowd to help us flush the pipes this evening. After the games this evening, we will let the system set idle overnight, and then collect samples tomorrow morning prior to the students arriving. Hopefully the test results will be good and we will be back to regular operations by the end of the week.
I greatly appreciate everyone's patience and support with this situation. A special thank you to Walmart Distribution for donating a pallet of gallon jugs of water, and to Orschelens's for giving us a discount and making Pick-Up easy on the 20 ounce bottles.
Again, it is Pack the House Night vs. the West Franklin Falcons, come out and and enjoy the Viking atmosphere.
