No words can say how proud I am of these boys. They work their tails off almost every day of the week and when it's time to compete, they rise up to the challenge. The stakes could not have been any higher the past two weekends, but they kept finding ways to push themselves further than they (and their competition) probably ever though was possible. Of the seven runners on this State Runner-up squad, six of them ran their personal best on one of the hardest courses in Kansas. It should also be said that this group won Central Heights' first Boys Cross Country Regional Title since 1991 and equaled that team's Runner-up finish. 26 years has been a long wait, but for me, that wait makes this even more special. Merely saying 'thank you' or that we will miss seniors Kyle, Zack, Matthew and Coyd would be doing them a disservice; each of them brought something so important or unique to the program that they simply cannot be replaced. Caleb, Bryce, Tyler and Alex will need to step up as leaders while Jarod and the rest of the younger runners need to continue to grow. As the saying goes at Central Heights - Today is great day to be a Viking!
